Celebrating our Eagles achievements

Members of the Lancing Eagles Running Club have achieved impressive results, from 5Ks and 10Ks to marathons and ultramarathons. Many have set personal bests, run further than they've ever run before and won age-group awards, showing dedication, talent, and strong team spirit. Here are just some of their achievements.

Lancing Eagles Soar to Victory, Retaining their Sussex Beer Mile Trophies!

The Lancing Eagles truly dominated at the Sussex Beer Mile 2025, cementing their status as the team to beat. In a stunning display of both teamwork and beer-drinking prowess, Lloyd’s Lager Legends—featuring Keir, Nik, Adam, and Lloyd—claimed victory in the team event, showing they had the perfect blend of speed and drinking skills. Keir, not to be outdone by his teammates, delivered an incredible solo performance to secure first place in the individual race, proving he’s a force to be reckoned with. Feathered and Fermented, consisting of Ian, Simone, Josh, and Mark, put up a solid fight and took second place in the team competition. Meanwhile, Designated Drivers, with Brian, Catherine, and Isla, proved you don’t need to down alcohol to have fun, staying sober but still bringing plenty of energy and spirit to the event. The Lancing Eagles’ clean sweep ensured their trophies stayed firmly in their hands for another year, further adding to their legendary status at the Sussex Beer Mile! Go Eagles!!

Eagles at Ferring 5 n 5

On a hot summer evening, some of our lovely Lancing Eagles took on the Ferring 5 ‘n’ 5, pushing through the heat with determination. Kate, in particular had a great run, finishing as the 5th fastest lady. Well done all!

Conquering Snowdon & Scafell Pike

An incredible group of Eagles took on an unforgettable challenge, climbing two mountains in just 24 hours—Snowdon and Scafell Pike.

Scafell, proved to be particularly brutal on the legs—its steep, relentless ascent testing both strength and stamina—but the group’s spirit never wavered. Despite the physical demands, the experience was nothing short of breathtaking; the views were stunning, and the weather showed them unexpected kindness, adding to the beauty of the journey. It was a true testament to their resilience, camaraderie, and love of adventure.

Lancing Eagles at Run 5.30 Brighton

While Brighton slept, the Lancing Eagles were up and running — taking on the Run 5.30 Brighton with smiles, steady strides, and a love for the quiet magic of the early morning. They cruised through the city’s empty streets, soaking in the sunrise, sea breeze, and iconic sights — all before breakfast!

No clocks, no pressure, just pure joy. A perfect start to the day.

Running, Singing, Surviving: Stuart’s 2025 Challenge

For the past 25 years, the amazing Stuart Taylor has been tirelessly raising money for WaterAid — taking on everything from mountain climbs and raft races to running a marathon in Iceland.

This year, he set himself his most ambitious challenge yet: completing both the Brighton Half Marathon and the London Marathon… all while singing karaoke the entire way round! It was a wild idea he’d daydreamed about for years — combining his two passions, running and singing — but had always thought was too ambitious. Until now!

Stuart has raised an incredible £4,781 so far for WaterAid, a cause that’s been close to his heart for over two decades.

There’s still time to donate if you’d like to show your support. Huge congratulations Stuart on this unforgettable achievement – your fellow Eagles are proud of you.

Isla's running challenge for The Millie Wright Children's Charity

Our amazing Isla-Kate set herself an incredible challenge for 2024/2025: to complete four races of increasing distance, covering a total of 66.5 miles — all to raise money for The Millie Wright Children's Charity.

Before taking on this goal, Isla-Kate had never run more than 10k. But that didn’t stop her. She conquered the hilly South Downs 10k, powered through the New Forest Half Marathon, pushed herself at the Goodwood GP 20-miler, and crossed the finish line at the Three Forts Challenge Marathon.

So far, she’s raised an impressive £755 — and donations are still open if you’d like to support this brilliant small charity.

Huge congratulations, Isla-Kate — we’re so proud of you and everything you’ve achieved!

Age is just a number!

Our very own Roger delivered an outstanding performance in the Goring Romero Run 10K, finishing third overall out of a competitive field of 78 runners. He also clinched first place in his Veteran age category. The race took place on a lovely flat trail course along the seafront, offering scenic views throughout. Despite the humid conditions, Roger maintained a strong and steady pace, making his achievement even more impressive. Go Roger!

Endurance Unleashed: Conquering Endure 24 with Grit, Determination, and a Sprinkle of Fairy Dust

Lancing Eagles' very own Alice, along with her friend Leah put in an extraordinary performance at Endure 24 Reading 2025, finishing second in the fiercely competitive women's pairs event. Running under the whimsical team name "Sugar Run Fairies," the duo completed an astonishing 96km each—12 laps apiece of the stunning yet relentlessly undulating 8km trail course. Over the gruelling 24-hour race, they conquered a combined total of 12,000 metres of elevation, all while dressed head to toe in fairy costumes, wings and all! Their blend of endurance, determination, and playful spirit drove them to success in one of the toughest events on the trail running calendar. An incredible achievement ladies – well done!

Nik, Liam, Josh and Adam lifting the trophy!

Beer Kings of Sussex 2024

A group from Lancing Eagles claimed a spirited victory at the inaugural Sussex Beer Mile 2024, outpacing the competition with a perfect blend of speed and beer drinking. Held in high-energy fashion under sunny skies, the quirky but fiercely contested event saw the Eagles showcase their trademark camaraderie and competitive edge, charging their way to the top of the podium. Their win earned them the coveted cup for Best Team, crowning them the Beer Kings of Sussex. But will they be able to defend their title in 2025?
